Our History
St. Helena of the Cross Parish was once called the greatest secret on the South Side. We were located on 101st and Parnell. We were a small parish with a big heart. One of the initiatives that came to fruition was the desire to form a credit union that would financially serve our community and its families. This resulted in the organization of St. Helena Parish Credit Union on October 24, 1984.
38+ years and two closed parish locations later, St. Helena Parish Credit Union has still managed to increase our membership and remain financially sound. We relocate our office wherever our St. Helena base resides. Our purpose remains the same; we exist to serve our community. Our goal remains the same; to educate and serve as your financial institution. We may be small, but great things come out of small packages.
Our Mission
The St. Helena Parish Credit Union is a faith-based, not for profit institution dedicated to serving our members in under-served communities with integrity and compassion. Our mission is to give back and empower our target market, African American individuals and families, through financial literacy, competitive products and services, investments, and community development initiatives. Our commitment is to leave an ineradicable impact by promoting financial wellness and resilience and supporting economic growth.
